Because I feel like complaining...

Wed Oct 14, 2009, 8:00 PM
Perhaps this is a petty venture but I just...feel like complaining. All my life I have been taught that one of the most important things you can learn is how to be a good friend and I've always prided myself that I am. I give advice, I comfort, I take time out of my schedule to be there for someone if they need it. I do a lot of favors, many of which I wish I wouldn't agree to do, but I do it anyways because it's nice, and who knows, maybe I'll need something done and they'll be willing to help because I was willing to help them. Lately I've felt rather depreciated though. My thoughtfulness and anything I've done is overlooked and ignored, or simply not recognized. Not that I want praise for what I do for my friends, but I'd like some sort of recognition for it, you know. I think most people would. I see public recognition of "OMG THESE ARE THE GREATEST FRIENDS EVER" and I wonder what more I possibly have to do to get some sort of recognition or shout out to how much I'm appreciated.

I'm sorry if I'm rambling or seem selfish, but I see this all the time and sigh that I am overlooked over and over again. I used to be recognized in small ways that I was a valued friend and in response I recognized them too. But that went away, and now I'm left wondering why I'm no longer able to be included. Why I got taken off, even. I don't know, I'm so tired of thinking that I'm important to people and then being reminded that I, apparently, am not as important as I thought.
